Chocolate Mosaic Tree Cookies
These tree cookies are a fun Tu B'shvat activity. You know you’re barking up the right tree when it’s a mosaic of chocolate. A creative treat to make and eat with its layers of texture and flavor.
You will need:
- Your favorite sugar cookie recipe
- Green chocolate (I used Shufra)
- Brown Chocolate
- Tree Cookie Cutter
Directions:
- Roll out the dough.
- Use a cookie cutter to cut out a tree shape.
For a large cookie:
Draw a tree on a paper.
Roll out dough on a piece of parchment paper.
Place the cut out on the dough and use a knife to cut out the tree.
Remove the scraps from the parchment paper.
Place the parchment on a cookie sheet and bake.
3.Melt the chocolate-
It is especially important to melt the green chocolate very slowly, in twenty second increments, mixing well in between. If the chocolate gets too hot, it becomes hard and very hard to work with.
Once the chocolate is melted, spread a thin layer of each chocolate on a separate piece of parchment paper.
Allow to dry and then break into small mosaic like pieces.
Cover the bark with some of the dark melted chocolate and then decorate with the mosaic pieces.
4. Repeat with the top of the tree, using the green chocolate.
