HERE’S HOW TO KEEP YOUR HYDRANGEAS HAPPY FOR WEEKS!
We all love hydrangeas, but sometimes we dont get to enjoy them before they begin to wither and wilt. We were determined to learn how to care for them properly. By speaking to our local florist and through trial and error, we figured out what works for us and we hope by sharing, it will work for you too!!
Here we go….
- Using a good pruning shears cut the stem to desired height and then cut an x on the bottom of the stem so that the bottom 2-3 inches of the stem is divided in 4 (sort of like 4 stems).
- Fill vase with warm water and place flowers in the vase.
- Change the water every 2-3 days with a fresh snip of the stems.
Tips:
Remove any major leaves below your water line. (We do like to keep a few leaves if they are near the top of the stem because I think the contrast in greenery makes the flower even prettier.)
Make sure to check your water level often and keep it high enough in the vase.
Make sure the vase is clean when you change the water.
Flowers do best in cool air-the cooler your house, the better off the flowers.
