In 2020, when we featured Açaí on the Go in Family First, we thought that açaí bowls was just a fad. Five years later, they are still so popular with açaí bowl stores popping up all over.

Açaí bowls have become a popular treat thanks to their bright color, blending varieties, and wide assortment of toppings. The toppings are honestly our favorite part of making an acai bowl, especially when we can get creative with the toppings, creating different patterns and designs. The toppings also add texture, crunch, protein, and added nutrients.

This açaí bowl recipe can be made at home in just a few minutes with a high-powered blender. It’s packed with antioxidants and can be topped with endless choices of fruits, nuts, granola, seeds, and more. Below is our basic recipe. As you can see, the colors of the smoothies are different. For some, we swapped the açaí with dragon fruit and for some we just added additional strawberries.

An açaí bowl party is always enjoyed by people of all ages. You can serve individual portions and make a toppings bar so everyone can decorate and top their açaí bowl according to their taste and preference.

Here are some topping combination ideas:

  • granola, sliced strawberries and chocolate chips
  • kiwis, gooseberries, coconut , pomegranate seeds
  • chocolate granola, hemp seeds, almond butter, mini chocolate chips
  • slivered almonds, blueberries, coconut, pomegranate seeds
  • granola, blueberries ,banana slices, kiwi, coconut
  • strawberries, mango, kiwi, pomegranate, coconut, blueberries, granola, almond butter
  • chopped mango, strawberries, kiwi, chia seeds
