Mega Chocolate Dreidel: A Sweet Chanukah Family Activity

Get ready for a Chanukah night filled with sweetness, creativity, and family fun! This Mega Chocolate Dreidel treat brings everyone together to build — and devour — a festive edible Chanukah centerpiece.

Why We Love This Chocolate Dreidel

  • It’s a fun, hands-on activity that brings together baking, crafting, and decorating — perfect for families.

  • It doubles as a show-stopping dessert centerpiece for your Chanukah table.

  • You pick the ingredients and design: use your favorite candies, chocolates, and treats for a custom look that reflects your family’s style.

What You’ll Need

  • A double batch of your favorite rice-Krispie treats (for the base)

  • Melted chocolate (to use as “glue”)

  • Chocolate “shtix” or chocolate covered wafer rolls (several packages — used to outline the dreidel)

  • Chocolate lentils, candy pieces, wafer rolls, mini cookies or other treats (for decorating and filling)

  • Ribbon (optional — for wrapping or decorating the dreidel)

Tips & Variations

  • Keep it simple — if time is short, limit decorations to a few chocolates or candies for a minimalist yet festive look.

  • Go all out — use lots of textures and shapes for a rich, candy-filled dreidel treat that doubles as dessert.

  • Make mini dreidels — scale the recipe down for individual, shareable treats.

  • Include kids — younger family members can help shape the base, press candies, or add finishing touches.

When to Use This Chocolate Dreidel

  • As a show-stopping dessert centerpiece on your Chanukah table.

  • As a fun, interactive family activity — build it together, then enjoy it together.

  • As part of a holiday party or gathering — festive, creative, and delicious.

Get ready for a Chanukah night filled with sweetness and creativity!

How to Make the Mega Chocolate Dreidel

  1. Line up your workspace — Use a flat cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. A pan without sides works best.

  2. Shape the base — Wet your hands slightly and press your rice-crispy mixture into a rectangle about 8″ x 13.5″.

  3. Form the dreidel shape — Cut the corners of the rectangle so it resembles a dreidel outline.

  4. Outline with chocolate shtix — Use melted chocolate to attach the shtix along every side of the dreidel. For extra festivity, tie a ribbon around the dreidel to secure the chocolate “frame.”

  5. Decorate and fill — Use the chocolate “glue” to attach candy, cookies, wafer-rolls, chocolate lentils — anything sweet and festive — to create decorative patches and colorful accents on your dreidel.

  6. Customize — This is where you unleash creativity: arrange candies in patterns, layer treats, add textures — make it uniquely yours.

The result: a festive, edible dreidel centerpiece full of color, sweetness, and holiday joy.
