Play it “right” on Chanukah night!
Add Laughter to Your Chanukah Party with the Right Left Chanukah Game!
This fun and engaging activity is perfect for any gathering. The Right-Left Gift Exchange game is a guaranteed hit for all ages! Gather your group, grab some wrapped gifts, and let the hilarity begin.
As the Chanukah story is read aloud, gifts are passed to the right or left whenever those words appear. With packages flying back and forth, the confusion and laughter are inevitable. It’s a simple yet interactive way to add excitement to your party, whether you’re playing with kids, adults, or a mix of both.
At the end of the story, everyone unwraps the gift they’re holding for a fun surprise. Get ready to create memories and keep everyone entertained with this lively and laughter-filled game!
Object: Chanukah fun!
Number of players: 2 or more (the more the merrier)
Ages: 5-105
You will need:
- one wrapped gift per player
- “right–left” story
How to play:
Players sit around the table or in a circle on the floor, each holding a wrapped package. No peeking!
The caller reads the right–left story slowly and clearly. Each time the word “right” is read, each player passes their package to the person on their right. When the word “left” is read, each package is passed to the left. Continue the story in this manner, passing the gifts back and forth. Young children will definitely need the help of the adult cheering squad. Giggling adult players may also get confused. At the end of the story, each player opens and keeps the gift that they are holding.

I played this game at the local Chabad ladies event and laughed and laughed. I am so happy I found your version online so I can play it with my grandchildren.
