Summer is here, and with the sun shining brightly, it’s the perfect time to create these adorable edible sunglasses with your children and campers.

Since the scorching heat makes baking a less appealing option, we decorated store-bought cookies using fondant and shaped sprinkles to make these sunglasses cookies.

This cute and engaging cookie decorating activity is sure to spark smiles and creativity. It’s a perfect way to beat the heat and enjoy some tasty fun.

These sunglasses cookies are so realistic looking being that they are the size of actual sunglasses. You can line them up in a sunglasses organizer and gift it as a fun gift to someone.

You will need:

Directons:

  1. Place two cookies side by side to resemble a pair of glasses, chocolate side facing down.
  2. Place a pretzel across the cookies, about ½ inch (1 cm) from the top of the glasses. The center of the pretzel should be at the center of the glasses.

3. Place a small puddle of chocolate under and on top of the two pretzel ends. This will keep the cookies together. Allow to dry.

4. If you’re making these with a large group, you may want to prepare the glasses ahead of time and just do the decorating together.

5. Now it’s time to be creative! You can roll out the fondant to use as the frames, adding sprinkles or fondant shapes to decorate them (using a fondant mold ), or use the shape sprinkles to create the entire frame. To attach the fondant and sprinkles, dip a toothpick into the icing or melted chocolate. For a smaller group, you can use a chocolate melting pot to keep the chocolate melted for a longer time. If you’re working with a larger group, I recommend using icing instead.

6. Use a toothpick dipped in white icing to draw reflection lines on the glasses. You can also use white fondant rolled out very thinly.
