DIY Erasers – A Fun Back to School Craft
Making your own colorful erasers is such a fun way to get excited for a new school year! This easy DIY eraser craft, which we featured in this week’s Mishpacha Family Table Magazine, gives kids a chance to get creative while making something they can actually use once school begins.
We used a DIY eraser kit, which makes the project especially simple. Kids can mix colors, create fun shapes and personalize their erasers with their own one-of-a-kind designs.
It’s the perfect activity for those last days of summer when everyone is starting to think about backpacks, pencils and heading back to school.
A Back to School Craft Kids Can Actually Use
There are plenty of fun Back to School crafts, but we especially love projects that have a purpose when they’re finished.
Instead of simply buying another pack of erasers, kids can create their own! Make colorful shapes, coordinate them with school supplies or design something completely unique.
Once they’re finished, tuck the erasers into a pencil case or pair them with some new pencils for the first day of school.
What You Will Need
- DIY eraser kit
- A little creativity!
We used an eraser-making kit from Amazon that comes with everything you need to create your own colorful erasers.
How to Make DIY Erasers
Simply follow the directions included with your eraser kit to create and finish your erasers.
The fun part is deciding what to make! Let kids experiment with different colors, shapes and designs to create erasers that are completely their own.
Make Them Your Own
Part of the fun of this project is that no two erasers have to look alike.
Try making initials, simple shapes, colorful patterns or school-themed designs. Kids can choose colors that coordinate with their new backpack, pencil case or notebooks, or simply use their favorite colors.
A Fun Activity Before School Starts
This is a great project to pull out during those last few days of summer when kids are excited about their new school supplies but still need something to keep them busy.
Invite a few friends over, spread out the supplies and let everyone make their own collection of erasers for the new school year.
You can even pair the finished erasers with new pencils for a cute and useful Back to School treat.
