Editable Rosh Hashanah Seating Cards with Pomegranate Wax Seals

There’s something about a wax seal that instantly adds a polished, elegant finishing touch. For Rosh Hashanah, we gave this timeless detail a festive twist by shaping a simple red wax seal into a pomegranate.

Paired with our editable Rosh Hashanah seating cards, it creates a personalized place setting that feels special and elegant—without being complicated to make.

We’re excited to have these seating cards with a matching Simanim plating idea featured in this week’s Family First Magazine!

A Rosh Hashanah Version of Our Viral Dreidel Seating Cards

Remember our dreidel seating cards that went viral? We think one of the reasons everyone loved them so much was their simple, classic look. There wasn’t too much going on—just a beautiful personalized detail that instantly dressed up each place setting.

We wanted to take that same concept and give it a Rosh Hashanah twist.

Instead of a dreidel, we created a pomegranate from red sealing wax and added an initial to the center. Paired with a simple seating card, it’s festive, meaningful, and still has that clean, classic look we love.

And we’re not stopping here! Look out for our Sukkos version, coming up in the Family First Sukkos edition.

Editable Rosh Hashanah Seating Cards

We created the seating cards to be editable, so you can personalize each one with your guests’ names before printing.

Once the cards are printed, add your handmade pomegranate wax seals for the finishing touch. You can coordinate the color of the cards with your tablescape or keep everything simple and neutral and let the red pomegranate be the standout detail.

It’s an easy DIY, but once it’s placed at each setting, it gives the entire table a polished, pulled-together look.

A Pomegranate-Inspired Wax Seal

Pomegranates are such a beautiful symbol of Rosh Hashanah, and we loved finding a new way to bring them onto the table.

The best part is that you don’t need a special pomegranate mold or stamp. The shape starts with a simple puddle of red sealing wax. A little extra wax and a wooden skewer are all you need to create the pomegranate crown.

Add an initial stamp to the center to personalize one for each guest.

Turn It Into an Apple

You can use the same idea to create an apple wax seal.

Instead of forming the pomegranate crown, add two small green wax leaves to the top of the red seal. It’s another simple way to turn the basic wax seal into a Rosh Hashanah-themed detail.

Choose apples, pomegranates, or mix the two designs around your table.

How to Make Pomegranate Wax Seals

Directions

  1. Heat the wax. Place a wax stick into your wax seal gun and allow it to heat completely.
  2. Prepare your surface. Lay a sheet of parchment paper on your work surface.
  3. Create the pomegranate. Squeeze a small puddle of red wax onto the parchment paper.
  4. Add the crown. Add a small amount of extra wax at the top of the puddle to begin forming the pomegranate crown.
  5. Work quickly. While the wax is still soft, use a wooden skewer to gently shape and define the crown.
  6. Add the initial. Immediately press your initial stamper into the center of the wax. The wax hardens quickly, so you’ll want to work fast during these last two steps.
  7. Let it cool. Allow the wax to cool completely before gently removing the seal from the parchment paper.

How to Assemble the Seating Cards

Edit the seating card template with each guest’s name and print the cards.

Make all of your pomegranate wax seals separately on parchment paper and allow them to cool completely. Once cooled, attach a wax pomegranate to each seating card.

Place one at each setting, and you have a personalized Rosh Hashanah seating card that looks elegant and special but is surprisingly easy to create.

Sometimes the simplest details are the ones that make the biggest impact.
