Simanim Dome with Pomegranate Accent
There’s something about a wax seal that instantly adds a polished, elegant finishing touch. For Rosh Hashanah, we gave this timeless detail a festive twist by shaping each wax seal to resemble a pomegranate.
You can also create an apple by adding two small green wax leaves at the top instead of the pomegranate crown. Both designs are surprisingly simple to make and add a beautiful, meaningful accent to seating cards, simanim domes, or anything on your Yom Tov table.
We’re excited to have this creative Rosh Hashanah idea featured this year in Mishpacha’s Family Table Magazine!
Simanim Dome with Pomegranate Accent
A simple simanim dome becomes extra special with a pomegranate wax seal. It’s an easy way to dress up your simanim while coordinating them beautifully with your Rosh Hashanah table.
The pomegranate accent adds a beautiful finishing touch while tying into the traditional simanim of Rosh Hashanah.
Use the Wax Seals for Seating Cards
The same pomegranate or apple wax seals can also be used as Rosh Hashanah seating cards. Add each guest’s initial to the center of the wax seal and place one at each setting for a simple, personalized finishing touch.
Use pomegranate seals for one look, or create apple seals with little green leaves for another Rosh Hashanah-inspired option.

- Lay a sheet of parchment paper on your work surface.
- Squeeze a puddle of wax onto the parchment paper.
- Add a small amount of extra wax at the top of the puddle to form the crown of the pomegranate.
- Work quickly while the wax is still soft: Use a wooden skewer to gently shape and define the crown.
- Immediately press your wax seal stamp into the center of the wax to create an initial, if desired.
- Allow the wax to cool completely before carefully removing it from the parchment paper.
Directions for Simanim Dome:
