Tefillin Bag Party Favor

Originally featured in Family First Mishpacha Magazine in 2012, this Tefillin Bag Party Favor remains a popular and meaningful idea for Bar Mitzvah celebrations. It’s a simple, DIY project that  is still super popular as the idea is special and meaningful to each individual bar mitzvah boy.

Try this simple idea  and use it to enhance a bar mitzvah on a sweet table or as memorable party favors at each setting.

As another version for this adorable idea, you can use a black bag or a pill bag with a label on the outside of the bag and fill it with any candy or nuts. The ziploc bags are smaller and are closer in size to the size of the mints.

Directions:

    1. Reduce picture of tefillin bag to 1.5”x 1.5 “.  You can copy and paste the image to fit a bunch on a page.
    2. Copy the images on a high quality colored printer.
    3. Cut out the picture of the tefillin bags , place each one on top of the chocolate and then  TIP: We found that when we put the chocolate in the bag from the top, the ziploc got dirty from the chocolate.  Therefore, we chose to cut the bottom of the Ziploc bag open and stick the chocolate in from the bottom.
    4. Fold over the remaining plastic and seal with the clear stickers.
    5. Punch a hole on the top of the plastic and add ribbon or raffia (optional).

Send us a copy of your projects to share with our followers.

  1. Hello,
I am looking forward to using this great idea that will add a nice touch to our simcha
I would like to know if you recommend a website to shrink/print the tefilin picture from. Is word better than canva etc?

    1. We found that when we put the chocolate in the bag from the top, the ziploc got dirty from the chocolate.  Therefore, we chose to use the 2″x3″ and cut the bottom off and stick the chocolate in from the bottom of the bag and then seal it. The 2″x2″ can work though if you prefer that size.
