How To Keep Your Hydrangeas Happy!

Shvuos Decor

I love flowers so naturally I love Shvuos decor!

It’s one of those special times that we allow ourselves to splurge on extra flowers that we do not usually treat ourselves to.

HOW TO KEEP YOUR HYDRANGEAS HAPPY FOR WEEKS!

I always loved hydrangeas, but they never seemed to last more than a day or two before they began to wither and wilt. I was determined to learn how to care for them properly! By speaking to my local florist and through trial and error, I figured out what works for me and I hope by sharing, it will work for you too!!

Here we go....

1.Cut the stem to desired height and then cut an x on the bottom of the stem  so that the bottom 2-3 inches of the stem is divided in 4 (sort of like 4 stems)

2. Fill vase with water and place flowers in vase.

3.Change the water every 2-3 days with a fresh snip of the stems.

Tips:

*Remove any major leaves below your water line.

(I do however like to keep a few leaves if they are near the top of the stem because I think the contrast in greenery makes the flower even prettier.)

*Make sure to check your water level often and keep it  high enough in the vase.

*Make sure the vase is clean when you change the water.

*Flowers do best in cool air-the cooler your house, the better.
