Soup Spin
Cookie cutters aren’t just for cookie dough.
Add some “spin” to your soup by adding dreidel shape soup cutouts to your soup at any meal or chanukah event.
You can try a different soup/crouton combination each night of Chanukah.
Carrot Dreidels
You will need:
- XL carrots
- peeler
- small dreidel cookie cutter or sharp knife
Directions:
- Peel carrot.
- Stand the carrot up tall on your cutting board.
- Carefully cut the carrot into long strips, about 1/4" thickness.
- Cut dreidels out with a cookie cutter or cut into squares and cut off corners to shape out a dreidel.
Add the carrots in at the end of the cooking process so they don’t get too soft and mushy.
Pastrami Dreidels
You will need:
- cooked pastrami (I had my deli cut the pastrami into ¼” slices.)
- dreidel cookie cutters
Directions:
- Cut dreidels out of pastrami.
- Roast pastrami in the oven for a few minutes.
- Add pastrami dreidels to a soup with a thicker consistency.
Toasted Cheesy Dreidels
You will need:
- bread
- cheese - Raclette or mild Cheddar, grated
- dreidel cookie cutters
Directions:
- Cut bread into dreidels with a cookie cutter.
- Sprinkle with cheese and toast.
- Add toasted dreidels to a soup with a thicker consistency.
Pasta Dreidel
You will need:
Directions:
- Place oven ready lasagna into a pan in a single layer.
- Cover with water and bake till soft. Remove from oven, allow to cool.
- Using a dreidel cookie cutter, cut out a dreidel. For best results don’t handle too much.
Works well in a thick or a clear soup.
