ARTSY DRINK TOPPERS
Level up your favorite drinks with these super-creative drink toppers.
They’re fun to make, beautiful to serve, and the perfect little touch that turns an ordinary drink into a festive work of art.
Below is a recipe to create the base — a “whip disc” — and fun ways to decorate it. Don’t stop there — feel free to get creative and make your own designs!
You can use the drink toppers on both hot and cold drinks — just keep in mind that they’ll melt more quickly on a hot drink.
Whip Discs
You will need:
-
16 oz whipped topping
-
¼ cup confectioners’ sugar
Directions:
-
Place whipped topping in the bowl of your mixer and beat until stiff.
-
Add in confectioners’ sugar and mix until combined.
-
Spread the mixture evenly on an 11×17” cookie sheet and freeze until firm.
-
Measure the circumference of the top of the glass and use that same size cookie cutter to cut out the whip discs.
To prep ahead, cut all the discs and store them in a container in the freezer until ready to use.
Cherry Blossom Topper

These mini cherry blossoms look like a mini tree blooming right on your drink!
You will need:
-
melted chocolate
-
Freezer Ziploc bag or disposable pastry bag
-
pink chocolate
-
parchment paper
-
vegetable peeler
Directions:
-
Place melted brown chocolate in the Ziploc or pastry bag. (You can also melt small chocolate pieces directly in the bag using a microwave in 20-second intervals.)
-
Cut a small hole in the corner of the bag and “draw” a tree trunk on parchment paper, keeping the size of your disc in mind.
No two trees are alike, so don’t stress about perfection! -
Use the vegetable peeler to make pink chocolate shavings.
-
Fill your glass with your drink, leaving room at the top for the whip disc.
-
Place a whip disc on top of the glass.
-
Add your chocolate tree trunk and pink chocolate shavings on top to create a whimsical cherry blossom tree effect.
Marble Chocolate Topper

Mmmm… topping a creamy iced coffee with even more chocolatey goodness? Need we say more?
You will need:
-
two different colors of chocolate (milk or pareve)
-
chocolate coffee beans or Klik balls
-
toothpick or skewer
-
parchment paper
-
round chocolate mold (optional)
Directions:
-
Melt both chocolates in a double boiler or microwave.
(If using milk chocolate, melt in short 20-second bursts, stirring after each one — overheating will ruin the chocolate.) -
Place a small amount of each chocolate side by side on parchment paper.
-
Using a toothpick or skewer, gently swirl them together to create a marbled effect. Try to keep your swirl in a circular shape.
(You can also use a mold for perfect circles.) -
While still wet, place chocolate coffee beans or Klik balls on top.
-
Allow the discs to dry completely.
-
Fill your glass, leaving room for the topper.
-
Place a whip disc on top, then your marble chocolate topper — and serve!
Tip: The possibilities are endless — edible flowers, crushed cookies, sprinkles, or even themed chocolate molds can all turn your drinks into something uniquely yours!
