Here is a stunning yet simple idea for enhancing a bowl of soup for a party. This soup garnish idea can be done with any shape stencil. You can also use it with an initial design. Many people have told us that they used this idea with an initial for a sheva brachos.
These elegant puffs look great on butternut and yellow split pea soup.
You will need:
- prepackaged puff pastry
- paprika
- designer stencils
- 3″ round cookie cutter
Directions:
- Remove puff pastry from the freezer and defrost partially. (You do not want the dough to get too soft as this would make it hard to handle.)
- Place discs on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet.
- Center your stencil on your disc. Using a spoon, place a little bit of paprika on the stencil until the design is covered with paprika. Carefully remove the stencil.
- Bake discs according to pastry package instructions. Allow to cool.
- Arrange the discs in the center of the soup right before serving.
Tips:
- Do not use a very detailed design. The simpler the design, the clearer the image or initial will look.
- Do not prepare the discs more than a few hours in advance.
