Lehodos U’Lehallel
A Chanukah Celebration of Gratitude, Light, and Creativity
A Theme Filled With Meaning
Chanukah is a time of light, miracles, and reflection. This year, we set out to create a celebration that was both beautiful and deeply meaningful—something that would inspire guests to pause, appreciate, and truly connect.
Our theme, lehodos u’lehallel — to give thanks and praise — was inspired by a cherished tradition shared by a friend. Each Chanukah, her mother hands out small notebooks for guests to record gratitude moments—daily, weekly, or whenever inspiration strikes. Anyone who brings back a filled notebook the following year receives a small gift.
It’s simple, heartfelt, and profoundly impactful—a way to carry the warmth of Chanukah’s eight days of Hallel into the entire year.

Floral Guitars: A Show-Stopping Centerpiece

To bring this theme to life visually, we designed dramatic floral centerpieces using guitars as the base. The mix of flowers with musical instruments brought height, movement, and an unexpected whimsy to the tablescape—merging elegance, creativity, and just a touch of playful magic. It transformed the room into a space of joy, gratitude, and celebration.
You Will Need:
floral foam
guitar (any size)
string
flowers
plastic covering
Directions:
Cover your workspace with a plastic tablecloth to protect surfaces.
Cut floral foam into a 3×3x 2-inch (8×8-cm) block or use precut foam.
Soak the foam until fully saturated, then gently squeeze out excess water.
Place a piece of plastic over the guitar where the foam will sit to protect the wood.
Tie the foam securely to the guitar strings using the string.
Position the guitar as it will appear on the table.
Insert flower stems directly into the foam and arrange as desired.
Allow the foam to finish dripping before placing the guitar on the set table.
IMPORTANT Tips:
- Before starting this project you will need to make sure the guitar has something sturdy to lean on. We propped our guitars using $5 lanterns from the dollar store—the rings on top created a stable and practical support. You will need to put a few heavy candles in the lantern to keep it sturdy. Make sure you figure our a strong base for your guitar to lean on.
- The flowers will not last more than a few hours because the foam is not so big. You can use faux flowers if you want.
