If there’s one Yom Tov when people try to make home-baked challah, it’s definitely Rosh Hashanah.
Whether you bake challah often or just do it special for Rosh Hashanah, you can make your challah extra special with this adorable pomegranate-shaped challos idea.
You can form a ring or make small rolls. One year, we alternated pomegranates with the Apple Challah Rolls we featured a few years ago.

This Pomegranate Challah would make a nice gift for someone. You can use this Challah Ring Box idea to package the challah with a small jar of honey. See packaging supplies ideas below.

You will need:

  • challah dough
  • round pan
  • leek
  • kitchen shears
  • egg wash

Directions:

  1. Form balls out of the challah dough and place them in the perimeter of the pan.
  2. Cut the leek into chunks and separate the rings.
  3. Use a kitchen shears to cut small triangle out of the top of one side of the rings to make it look like a
    crown.
  4. Brush the challah with egg and place a “crown” on each challah ball.
  5. Bake challah until golden.

We were inspired to make these challos by Sarit Novak of Misspetel.
