Chanukah is a really fun and exciting time of year. We love coming up with creative ways to make chanukah cookies, like out Chocolate Dreidel Cookies and our Mosaic Dreidel Cookies.
Using patterned cookie dough is a lot of fun.  We came up with this original Chanukah Sugar Cookies idea using colorful cookie dough. We created different Chanukah shapes out of the cookie dough and then placed them on some rolled out cookie dough. This is our favorite cookie dough recipe.
Creating these adorable repeat pattern cookies for Chanukah is a fun and creative project to do with your children. You can bake these cookies for a Chanukah event or you can even use it for a Chanukah baking activity at a Chanukah party.
Have fun getting creative with your designs and colors!
You can also stick to one color cookie dough for the pattern like we did for our Flower Brownie Bars.
 You will need:
- cookie dough
- food coloring
- rolling pin
- 1- or 2-inch dreidel cookie cutter
- 4-inch round cookie cutter
Directions:
- Divide the dough in half. Put one half aside.
- Divide the other half into several pieces and color as desired.
- Roll out the uncolored cookie dough for the background.
- Roll out the colored doughs and cut out Chanukah shapes.
(For the candles, I cut thin strips of dough and shaped the flames by hand.) - Arrange the shapes on the background and gently push them down into the dough.
- Use the round cookie cutter to cut cookies.
- Bake according to your recipe’s directions.
