Supplies:
- white bread
- pumpernickel bread (whole wheat can also be used)
- choice of sandwich filling
- large white plate
- 2” square cookie cutter – optional
- black olives
- grape tomatoes
- toothpicks

Directions:
- Using your cookie cutter or knife, cut out squares from both breads and make into sandwiches.
- Arrange sandwiches on a platter in a checkerboard pattern alternating the white and pumpernickel breads.
- Place olives and tomatoes on toothpicks and arrange on checkerboard.
Tip: Use the crusts and “scraps” from the bread to make your own homemade croutons.
