We love getting creative with fruit.
This Watermelon Vase is a bit more time consuming than many of our other ideas, so we recommend saving it for a very special occasion, when you are serving a smaller crowd.
We love the idea as a starter to a meal because it is such an impressive presentation.
You will need:
watermelon
grapes
blueberries
cantaloupe
Directions:
- Cut a one-inch thick slice of watermelon.
- Use a cookie cutter or cut out a large rectangle (the cookie cutter we used was 2 ¾ x 3 ½”)
-  Cut out a smaller rectangle in the center of the large rectangle (We used a 1 ¼ x 2″ cookie cutter).
- Thread blueberries and grapes on a toothpick, as shown.
- Push the toothpick first down into the watermelon base, and then up into the top to hold in place.
- Use a flower-shaped cookie cutter to cut flowers out of cantaloupe slices. For best results, stand cantaloupe upright and cut thin slices from its side.
- Attach blueberries to centers of flowers with half a toothpick, and use green toothpicks to place cantaloupe flowers into watermelon base.
